Some of the best toys for dogs are the ones made of not too hard rawhide. Dogs love to chew, and dogs will love to play fetch with you and for this you do need a ball. Instead of allowing the dog to play with any ball, like an old tennis ball or golf ball that can be chewed so easily, get your dog or puppy the chewy treat balls that are large enough to keep the dog from swallowing them. A tennis or golf ball should only be used while playing fetch with the dog yourself and be kept in a safe place where your children or the dog can not get to it on their own. Further more there are hard rubber pet toys for dogs and puppies that can not be chewed apart or be swallowed. You will find out that there really are a lot of safe toys for dogs and puppies at every pet store or at your super market. Make sure you always have some safe pet toys at hand for those times your puppy or dog can not accompany you and has to spend some time on its own. Just to keep the dog from chewing on its own bed or blanket or to keep it from going after all those things around your home that are not safe or are valuable to yourself. A wooden floor, doors and furniture easily splinter when attacked by puppy or dog teeth and you will be shocked to see how much damage those teeth can do in no time at all. The toys we would NOT want to give our dogs are first of all any bones. They all break and splinter when dogs chew on them and can leave splinters in your dogs teeth and can even cause problems in your dogs intestates. Avoid all pet toys that come with a squeaker or with a bell. These can be chewed out of the toys and your dog or puppy might end op swallowing it.

Stay away from the rope and string pet toys as well because these could cause a blockage in your dogs intestates if they swallow parts of it. The same goes for stuffed toys. It is so very touching and sweet to watch your little boy or girl bring the doggie one of its own stuffed toys. And it is hard to tell a sweet little kid that this is not the right toy to give to doggie. Instead you could take your little boy or girl with you to the pet store and together pick a safe pet toy that it can give to the doggie to play with. Not only will it be very easy for your dog to tear up the outside of the stuffed toy, but the stuffing can be torn out too easily as well and parts of the toy can be swallowed by your dog or puppy. Giving your dog soft rubber pet toys to play with is not advisable either. The dog or puppy can chew them up into little pieces in no time and parts of the toy can be easily ingested.
